Crypto Scam: Man Duped of 88 Lakh in Crypto Scam: Navi Mumbai Resident Files FIR | Navi Mumbai News
Navi Mumbai: A man residing in Koparkhairane has registered an FIR of cheating at the cyber police station in Nerul on Wednesday after he was duped of Rs 88.2 lakh by a six-member gang of cyber fraudsters using the cryptocurrency scam. All six gang members have been booked.
In the FIR filed by Jaiprakash Mandrena (53), who works for a shipping company, has stated that on September 9, he had received a WhatsApp message from one Coleen, who offered him huge returns in cryptocurrency trading.She guided Mandrena on how to invest in cryptocurrency trading.
Over time the accused introduced the victim to other members of the gang and gained the victim’s trust. Later, in November, Mandrena invested Rs 88.2 lakh by taking a gold loan, a personal loan from friends and using his savings. But, he did not receive any returns. When he questioned the accused, they gave evasive replies after this he realised that he was cheated.

Mumbai builder kidnap case: Gang member held from Madhya Pradesh
Mumbai Police’s crime branch arrested a 22-year-old man, Mazhar Shakir, from Madhya Pradesh in connection with the abduction of a Mumbai-based builder by a gang for a ransom of Rs 10 crore last month. The total number of individuals taken into custody has reached six. The builder was abducted from the Mazgaon area of Mumbai, and a gang bundled him into a car. The victim was held captive in suburban Govandi and was subsequently rescued by the police. The arrest of Mazhar Shakir was a result of the investigation.

A 33-year-old software engineer fell victim to a part time job fraud case in Mumbai, losing over Rs 18 lakh. The engineer was lured into the scam by receiving a WhatsApp message offering a part time job to give ratings to hotels. Initially paid Rs 200 per rating, the engineer was then offered a scheme to invest money for more tasks and higher profits. After investing Rs 18.34 lakh, the engineer realized that the money couldn’t be transferred to their bank account and reported the fraud to the cyber police.
