According to the developer under the pseudonym banteg, the vulnerability in Aave could result in “11-figure losses.” He later clarified that the exploit was possible “for 160 days in the past, but not now.”

The project will allow to exchange tokens between major native DeFi networks such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, as well as EVM-compatible networks and L2 solutions.

Hacks and scams

Decentralized protocol Cream Finance has once again been hacked. The damage from the attack was estimated at $ 130 million.

Analyst firm PeckShield said the attack was possible due to a bug that “allows you to borrow all the funds in the current loan pools.” Together with the developers of yearn.finance, the administration managed to identify and close the vulnerability.

The attack vector involved the use of instant loans in complex transactions. Most of the stolen assets are represented by Cream Finance liquidity provider tokens and other ERC-20 coins.

DeFi protocol PancakeHunny also came under attack using instant borrowing. The project lost 388 BNB and 1.7 million TUSD (approximately $ 1.9 million at the time).

The developers assured that all user funds are safe, and the exploit only affected the price of the HUNNY token. According to them, the hacker created a smart contract for the HUNNY TUSD storage exploit, which was subsequently executed 26 times.

Unknown withdrew from liquidity pools Indexed Finance assets worth about $ 16 million. The developers reported that a hacker exploited a vulnerability in the rebalancing mechanism.

The administration called the incident “devastating” for the project and said they knew how to close the vulnerability. She was also offered help from “respected Ethereum developers”.

The day after the incident, the Indexed Finance team reported that it had identified the attacker. He was given an ultimatum – he was asked to return the assets within 24 hours and was told that otherwise they would turn to law enforcement agencies.

The hacker did not return the funds on time, but the Indexed Finance team did not follow through on their threats. The developers explained that the changes they made to the account made it clear that he is significantly younger than they thought.
