Neshaminy Teachers Ratify Contract, School Board Votes Next
The Neshaminy School Board is expected to vote on a new three-year contract for teachers next month after union members approved the agreement.
The Neshaminy Federation of Teachers (NFT), which represents about 650 teachers, announced this week that its members voted to approve a three-year contract proposal with the district.
The agreement would be retroactive, running from July 1 through June 30, 2028.
The school board is slated to consider the contract agreement on Sept. 9.
According to a statement from the NFT, the agreement follows months of collective bargaining negotiations.
“This tentative agreement honors the hard work and professionalism of our members. It improves financial compensation, safeguards health care affordability, and strengthens working conditions in meaningful ways,” said NFT President Tara Huber. “By expanding elementary prep time, we are supporting our teachers’ capacity to plan effectively and meet student needs.”
Huber noted the new contract provides financial security for members and their families.
“We are especially proud to offer members a new, lower-cost health plan alternative. The addition of a high-deductible health care option and the expanded medical-opt out benefit allows our members greater agency to choose an option that meets their individual or family needs, while potentially realizing meaningful cost savings,” she said.
Huber thanked the school board and district for working together.
The new contract comes as the district seeks to trim costs after recent tax hikes.
Neshaminy gained national attention for a five-year labor impasse that resulted in two strikes before being settled in 2013.
