Navy staffer arrested for spying for Pakistan, leaked critical info on Op Sindoor

Rajasthan Police’s Intelligence Wing on Wednesday arrested a civilian employee posted at the Naval Headquarters in Delhi for allegedly leaking classified information to a Pakistani intelligence handler.

The accused, Vishal Yadav, an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) and resident of Punsika, Rewari (Haryana), was caught by the police under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. His arrest followed prolonged surveillance by CID Intelligence Rajasthan, which had been monitoring suspected espionage activity linked to Pakistan.

Inspector General of Police (CID Security) Vishnukant Gupta revealed that Yadav was working in the Directorate of Dockyard and had been in regular contact via social media with a Pakistani female handler, using the alias Priya Sharma. She allegedly lured him with money in exchange for critical strategic information from naval operations.

According to the investigation, Yadav was addicted to online gaming and had begun leaking sensitive information to meet financial needs. Payments were routed to his cryptocurrency wallet (in USDT) and bank accounts, raising concerns over the use of digital currencies in espionage networks.

The police informed that the forensic analysis of his mobile phone had uncovered damning evidence, including chat records and documents showing that Yadav had previously leaked sensitive naval intelligence during Operation Sindoor. This suggests his involvement in espionage over an extended period.

Yadav is currently being interrogated by multiple intelligence agencies at a secure facility in Jaipur. Authorities are now focused on identifying other potential collaborators and assessing the scale of the information leak.

Additionally, security agencies have issued a public advisory to citizens, urging them to be cautious on social media and immediately report any suspicious activity or contacts.
