Charles Hoskinson Reveals XRP & RLUSD Integration on Cardano
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has responded to a community question about whether Ripple’s new stablecoin, RealUSD (RLUSD), would be available on the Cardano network. And while he didn’t offer a launch date, his answer pointed to something much bigger than just RLUSD.
According to Hoskinson, a full “XRP package” is being worked on. This includes integration of XRP into Cardano’s DeFi layer, support for the official Lace wallet, discussions around RLUSD, and something he called “glacier drops.” There wasn’t a confirmed timeline, but he made it clear that serious talks are already happening.
His comments came as users started speculating about the potential for RLUSD to be part of Cardano’s growing DeFi plans. But Hoskinson’s response made it clear that RLUSD is just one piece of a larger integration effort.
The term “glacier drops” stood out. While it’s not widely used in crypto yet, it seems to refer to a staggered or milestone-based token or feature release, a more strategic version of an airdrop.
Hoskinson also emphasized support for Lace wallet, which is Cardano’s native wallet focused on improving user experience. Integrating XRP with Lace would make it easier for Cardano users to hold and interact with Ripple-based assets inside the ecosystem.
During the broader conversation, Hoskinson also said:
“These are discussions that are part of the overall Bitcoin DeFi agenda. It’s the same with XRP entering our space. I’d love for Cardano Midnight to be the DeFi layer of the XRP ecosystem. So they can stay and continue to be XRP, but then they can get much better yields for their holders and for X Ripple itself, the company that created XRP. So we’re in a good position and ecosystem strong. And we should never forget the principles.”
This move lines up with Cardano’s larger goal of making its ecosystem more open and connected. Bringing XRP into its DeFi space could open doors for things like lending, borrowing, and earning yields, areas where XRP hasn’t really had a strong presence before.
Hoskinson didn’t mention any specific dates, but his comments made it clear that Cardano wants to work with other networks and make space for big assets like XRP and RLUSD. If it all goes ahead, it could attract more users and developers, especially from the XRP side, who’ve been waiting for real DeFi options without giving up on XRP.
