The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has searched 11 locations in Delhi and neighbouring Haryana in connection with a cybercrime case, resulting in the seizure of ₹1.08 crore in cash, $1000, and 252 gm of gold.

The operation, carried out on Friday (February 14, 2025), was a follow-up action in the case registered under Section 120B read with Section 420 of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code and Section 66D of the IT Act.

It was alleged that the suspects were engaged in illegal activities by impersonating government officials and committing crypto fraud using computer resources and crypto devices. They were also found cheating people in India and abroad by offering fake technical support consultations and dishonestly inducing them to transfer money in the form of cryptocurrency.

The ill-gotten funds were then routed through multiple crypto wallets and converted into cash.

The CBI has already filed a chargesheet in the case, against three accused persons.

According to the agency, the searches also led to the seizure of six laptops, eight mobile phones, and one iPad. “The investigation also revealed the use of computer programmes for making VoIP-based calls and accessing the darknet,” it said.
