Police arrest four alleged crypto scammers, recover 1,336 sim cards
Four notorious suspects said to be involved in large-scale mining scams have been arrested
The suspects, police say, were busted in Kahawa area in a well-coordinated joint operation by various units from the DCI.
Officers recovered a total of 1,336 SIM cards from the suspects during the operation.
The breakdown revealed that 1,235 are Safaricom sim cards, Airtel (80), and Telkom (21).
Additionally, electronic devices including a tablet, laptop, and eight mobile phones were seized as part of the evidence.
The four are currently booked at Muthaiga and Pangani police stations as investigations continue.
“More suspects are being sought as the four pend arraignment on Monday,” police said in a report.
There are currently many scam websites that prey on people who are new to the industry.
Scammers on such mining sites often promise investors unrealistic returns on investment.
Some claim that investors can make 100 per cent or even 200 per cent profit per month.
