Bitcoin Income: 2 held for luring man with bitcoin income | Vadodara News

Vadodara: Cybercrime sleuths arrested two persons who allegedly duped a citizen by luring him with lucrative income on investments. The accused duo are residents of Ahmedabad.
Complainant Shaleen Chhajer, a resident of Gujarat Refinery township at Jawarharnagar had told the cybercrime police that he was approached by a person who identified himself as a business associate of Tech Magnet Digital Marketing Agency.He was offered a part-time job on Telegram through which he could earn money by subscribing to different Youtube channels from his Telegram id. The complainant was even paid some amount initially. But was later asked to perform some premium tasks for which he was asked to invest crypto currency with an assurance of 30% commission. The complainant was asked to deposit Rs 8.20 lakh in different bank accounts as part of the premium tasks.
Chhajer, however, later realised that he was victim of an online fraud when he could not withdraw the amount that he was promised from the crypto wallet. The complainant had submitted his complaint on October 13.
The accused include Jeet Bhatt, a 24-year-old resident of Ahmedabad’s Astodiya area and Akanshi Mahadevia, a 22-year-old resident of Ahmedabad’s Raipur area. Cops had earlier arrested four other accused in connection to the case.
The accused used to open bank accounts in different names and lure people promising them high return on investments. The cops have seized five mobile phones and a laptop from the accused who have been booked under sections 420, 114, 120 (B), 204 of the Indian Penal Code and section 66 (D) of the IT Act. Cops said that after remand, the duo has been sent to judicial custody.
