Two crypto frauds dupe former bizman of Rs 1.6 crore | Pune News

PUNE: The Cyber police have arrested two brothers on the charge of cheating a former businessman (72) of Rs1.57 crore by posing as tax consultants and promising him handsome returns on his investment in cryptocurrencies.
The police said the two Undri residents stole the cryptocurrencies from the man’s e-wallet while being in Dubai. A police team, headed by senior inspector Meenal Patil and sub-inspector Dhanaji Tone, arrested Pavankumar Tatvedi (35) and his brother, Pankajkumar (30) and seized two cellphones, three SIM cards, identity cards of Dubai and Euro worth Rs36,000 from them.They were operating a tax consultation office from their residence.
“Though they were based out of Dubai, the duo kept moving between the United Arab Emirates city and Jodhpur and Pune. They are originally from Jodhpur,” Patil said. The police arrested Pavankumar on Thursday night and his brother the following evening. A local court on Saturday remanded them in police custody till December 1.
