FCAA aims to educate the public on crypto scams during Financial Literacy Month

For Financial Literacy Month, which is this month, FCAA Saskatchewan is helping investors learn about crypto scams through a social media campaign.
Spokesperson with the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan, Brett Wawro, says crypto investment scams are prevalent all across the country and Saskatchewan is no exception.
He states that in the last six months, the average loss to crypto investment scams reported to the FCAA was $75,000.
Most Saskatchewan victims were looking at crypto investments online and then were targeted after providing personal information, so Wawro warns that if you research crypto online, you may make yourself a target.
He adds that there are only 13 registered online crypto trading platforms in Saskatchewan and if you are not dealing with one of them, you may be putting yourself at risk.
