Polygon Labs launches AI chatbot called ‘Polygon Copilot’

Polygon Labs announced an AI assistant called Polygon Copilot on June 21.

The company said that Polygon Copilot had been trained on protocol documentation. It provides personas that can explain this information to users with different levels of knowledge.

The app can explain various topics in “beginner” and “advanced” modes. It additionally offers a “degen” mode that offers insights and analytics related to NFTs, DeFi, and wallets. This mode writes with “flair” — or, more precisely, talks in memes.

Users can also instruct Polygon Copilot to mint zkEVM and proof-of-stake (POS)-based NFTs from within the assistant’s chat interface.

Putting Polygon Copilot through its paces

During CryptoSlate’s testing, Polygon Copilot was able to estimate a market cap close to MATIC‘s actual cap in dollars when it was asked to do so. It did not return the balance of a MATIC address when asked. It did provide instructions on how to find that balance, albeit through a CLI app rather than through an online block explorer.

Polygon said that it had placed limits on the number of requests that users can submit in order to prevent spam. However, it said that users could obtain more credits through referrals and partner offers. Polygon Copilot’s settings show that credits refresh daily; it also allows users to enter their own OpenAI API for unlimited credits.

Polygon Copilot is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4, though its settings show that other versions of GPT can be used. The app was built by a company called Layer-E.

Other crypto platforms offer AI chatbots

Polygon is just the latest company to launch an AI assistant. Avalanche announced its own chatbot, called, AvaGPT, on June 20.

Other AI crypto assistants include Binance’s Sensei chatbot, Solana’s ChatGPT plugin, Crypto.com’s Amy chatbot, and ByBit’s ToolsGPT.
