Crypto prices today: Bitcoin, Ethereum and other altcoins continue to fall

Cryptocurrencies witnessed losses on Thursday. Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency in the world, marked lows by 1.97 percent to trade at $26,385.55 . At the time of writing this article (0930 IST), its nearest rival, Ethereum, declined by 2.11 percent to stand at $1,838.29.
As the market witnessed remained weak, the value of top tokens like XRP declined by 1.46 percent, Solana plunged by 8.05 percent, Polygon slipped by 5.64 percent and Tron dropped in its value by 2.57 percent. Other tokens like Monero, Cosmos, Litecoin and Avalanche registered losses by 0.78 percent, 6.19 percent, 1.83 percent, and 4.66 percent, respectively.
Mudrex co-founder and CEO Edul Patel said, “Amid ongoing tensions between the US SEC and Binance and Coinbase, Bitcoin underwent a decline below the $26,400 level. Despite efforts, BTC was unable to reclaim its position above $27,000. The current support level for BTC is $26,200, with resistance observed at $26,600. If the immediate resistance can be overcome, there is a potential for further price increases.”
The global cryptocurrency market cap dropped by 2.32 percent to $1.01 trillion, along with the decrease registered in the total crypto market volume by 18.21 percent to $37.88 billion.
Gainers and decliners
Today’s top gainers include Stacks, XDC Network, Casper and UNUS SED LEO. Contrastingly, coins like Kava, Algoraland, Decentraland and Flare were among the top losers.
Meme coins register decrease
Popular meme coins recorded plunge over the last 24 hours. Elon Musk-backed Dogecoin fell by 3.07 percent. Other meme coins like Floki and Shiba Inu, fell by 4.55 percent and 2.50 percent, respectively. The value of Dogelon Mars declined by 2.53 percent, followed by lows noticed in the price of Pepe by 8.32 percent.
Metaverse tokens marked lows
Most of the metaverse tokens experienced a decline in their prices. Internet Computer slipped by 4.69 percent, and Stacks dipped by 5.34 percent. Other tokens like Decentraland and ApeCoin dropped by 8.79 percent and 3.81 percent, respectively.
