Crypto prices today: Bitcoin, Ethereum and top altcoins in the red

Cryptocurrencies extended losses in the trade on Monday. Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency in the world, marked lows by 0.74 percent to trade at $26,864.96. At the time of writing this article (0930 IST), its nearest rival, Ethereum, declined by 1.17 percent to stand at $1,872.48. 

As the market witness negative fluctuations, the prices of top tokens like Polkadot fell by 1.27 percent, Cardano decreased by 1.10 percent and Cosmos slipped by 0.07 percent. Other tokens like Monero, Polygon, and Litecoin registered losses by 0.87 percent, 1.91 percent, and 2.40 percent, respectively.

The global cryptocurrency market cap dropped by 0.90 percent to $1.13 trillion, in contrast to growth registered in the total crypto market volume by 28.21 percent to $24.89 billion.

Gainers and decliners

Today’s top gainers include Terra Classic, Decentraland, ApeCoin and dYdX.  Contrastingly, coins like Filecoin, Pepe, WOO Network and The Graph were among the top losers. 

Meme coins went down 

Popular meme coins noticed negative price fluctuations. Elon Musk-backed Dogecoin fell by 1.42 percent. Other meme coins like Shiba Inu and Pepe Coin, fell by 1.10 percent and 6.27 percent, respectively. The value of Floki , Dogelon Mars and Bone ShibaSwap also reduced in the last 24 hours. 

Metaverse tokens displayed mixed momentum 

Most of the metaverse tokens displayed mixed momentum. Internet Computer declined by 1.47 percent, and The Axie Infinity dipped by 5.29 percent. On the contrary, the values of The Sandbox and ApeCoin recorded profits of 2.68 percent and 2.38 percent, respectively. Moreover the price of Stacks dropped by 3.16 percent while growth was seen in Decentraland by 2.54 percent.
