Bridge DeFi Privacy For less than year, Aztec Connect disappears

Blockchain privacy layer Aztec Network announced on Monday that it has discontinued Azure Connect, a bridge that offered a privacy shield for transactions using decentralised finance (DeFi). After being online in July 2022, Azure Connect did not survive for a full year.

The Aztec team stated in a Medium article that the extensive research put into Aztec Connect will be useful and even crucial to the creation of their next-generation product. The fact that an encrypted rollup is currently operational and in use provides us confidence as we turn our attention to a fully programmable version.

Next week, Aztec Connect will stop accepting payments from front-ends like zkMoney. For a year, users can withdraw money without paying any costs. Withdrawals will always be possible, but after that first year, the act will grow more technically difficult.

Aztec urged the community to keep creating by completely opening up the Aztec Connect protocol with the lapsing. The business declared that it is prepared to provide financial support for a bridge that would be run independently.

The two key products that Aztec Network will concentrate on going forward are a next-generation encrypted zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup and Noir, a universal language for ZK encryption.
