GBBC Digital Finance Becomes Affiliate Member Of IOSCO

GBBC Digital Finance stated on February 16 that it became an affiliate member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The IOSCO is a global organisation that creates and promotes international securities standards.
IOSCO’s membership includes approximately 200 linked organisations and 35 national securities authorities. In addition, GBBC Digital Finance has joined IOSCO’s Affiliate Members Consultative Committee as its 70th member. The group advises on IOSCO’s standards and policies, and the committee conducts yearly training on securities-related matters.
In July, IOSCO published its “Crypto-Asset Roadmap.” Lawrence Wintermeyer, chairman of GBBC Digital Finance, stated:
“We will work with IOSCO to best engage our members in 2023 in providing any assistance we can to the two IOSCO Crypto-Asset Roadmap working groups, Crypto and Digital Assets (CDA) and Decentralised Finance (DeFi).”
In March, the IOSCO published a report on DeFi that identified many hazards associated with the technology. IOSCO and the Bank for International Settlements collaborated in July to guide on stablecoins.
The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) is a worldwide trade group for the blockchain technology ecosystem that participates in educational initiatives and maintains a representation at the World Economic Forum. In May 2022, the organisation combined with Global Digital Finance, a market standards association for using cryptocurrencies and digital assets, to create GBBC Digital Finance.
