Vasil Hard Fork Delayed as Developers Try To Resolve Bugs
Cardano News
- The Vasil Hard Fork may be delayed by a few days.
- According to the head of delivery and projects at IOG, the team is “very close to finalizing the core work.”
- The final hard fork decision will be made once IOG has consulted with members of the SPO and dapp development community.
The Vasil Hard Fork may not happen on the originally anticipated schedule on June 29. This is after the core Input Output Global (IOG) team that is working toward the Vasil upgrade held its end-of-week evaluation call on Friday.
According to the head of delivery and projects at IOG, Nigel Hemsley, “The IOG engineering team is extremely close to finalizing the core work, with just seven bugs still outstanding to complete the hard fork work, with none currently ranked as ‘severe’.”
June 20 was the latest date that the team could push a Cardano testnet upgrade before the next epoch boundary.
However, as a result of the minor outstanding bugs, the members of the IOG team reached a mutual consensus to not send the hard fork update proposal to the testnet yesterday. This was done to allow for more time to test the code.
Hemsley went on to give an update on the status of the Plutus V2 test scripts and said that “we’ve managed to get through the majority (approx 95%) of our Plutus V2 test scripts.” He also added that there are however still a few outstanding items that the team needs to run so that they can confirm that all of the moving parts of the test scripts are working as they expected.
Hemsley started towards the end of the announcement that the final decisions to hard fork the Cardano Testnet will only be made once the IOG team has consulted with the members of the SPO and dapp development community.
