Merge is creating bullish sentiments for Ethereum (ETH)
With Merge, Ethereum will end mining. This will mark the end of proof-of-work for Ethereum. Merge is expected to take place in Q2 of 2022. This change and switch over to PoS is expected to cut energy use dramatically. However, many fear a lot of things can go wrong. Despite, there is an increasing demand for altcoins and investors are accumulating ETH, thus pulling it out of circulating supply. The expectation is for the Ethereum price to trend higher.
The Ethereum “merge” is an attempt to switch from a proof-of-work model to proof-of-stake. Ethereum currently relies on what’s known as proof-of-work, in which miners must complete complex puzzles to validate financial transactions on the blockchain.
So, what after Merge? People can already use their digital wallets to stake Ether on this test system, called the Beacon Chain; after the Merge they will start to be selected at random to become what are known as validators, ordering transactions on the Ethereum digital ledger into blocks and getting paid with new Ether.
ETH Price Trends: Ethereum price has benefited greatly due to accumulation by investors. This is looked at as a positive sign for the price trend of altcoin. Institutional investors are large wallets are looking to invest in ETH eventually driving the price of the altcoin higher.
Ever since the implementation of EIP-1559 and staking on the ETH2 deposit contract, there is a negative issuance for Ethereum and the circulating supply of ETH is shrinking consistently.
The transition of Ethereum Network to PoS is a key milestone which investors are looking at. And, there is no surprise that institutional and investor interest is peaking with regards to Ethereum.
The Total Value Locked (TVL) in Ethereum is indicative of the utility and adoption of ETH. Thus, an increase in TVL is indicative of increased adoption.
PoS Validator: The more someone does stake, there are more chances for them to be chosen as a validator. Validators do the job of creating the transactions of users in to blocks on the Ethereum blockchain and they earn rewards which will be paid to validators in Ether.
Since validators are invested in staking their crypto, they are incentivized to perform better. However, if they do not do better the value of Ether they have staked will be reduced and they will lose their ETH for every non-performance or poor-performance.
PoS is creating lot of expectation. And, Merge is creating bullish sentiments for Ethereum. The exact date of shipping of Merge is not clear. It is an engineering feat.
