Ukraine launched NFT collection to aid the army amidst Russia’s invasion

New Del­hi: The Vice Pres­i­dent of Ukraine and Min­is­ter of Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion, Mykhai­lo Fedorov took to Twit­ter on March 25 to announce the launch of the NFT col­lec­tion ‘Meta His­to­ry: Muse­um of War.’ Report­ed­ly, the sales made from the Muse­um of War NFT would direct­ly go to the offi­cial cryp­to wal­let of the Min­istry of Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion of Ukraine in order to pro­vide help to the Ukrain­ian forces and civil­ians affect­ed and trapped in the war-torn country.

On the web­site of the NFT col­lec­tion, cer­tain pur­pos­es are enlist­ed. They are:

  • With the help of the NFT col­lec­tion, the gov­ern­ment aims to memo­ri­alise the actu­al chrono­log­i­cal events of the inva­sion period.
  • It would help in pro­vid­ing cor­rect infor­ma­tion through­out the dig­i­tal com­mu­ni­ty and in the world.
  • Dona­tions in sup­port of Ukraine can be col­lect­ed through this means.
  • The web­site calls NFTs in the col­lec­tion of facts accom­pa­nied by per­son­al reflections.
  • The web­site ensures a 100% secure deal with the help of smart contracts.
  • Besides, NFTs will be sold over the ethereum blockchain.

Accord­ing to the report by Forbes, the first sale will be col­lect­ed by a Ukrain­ian start-up named Fairxyz.com and will fea­ture 5,000 to 7,000 NFTs at the price of around $450 each. Besides, the sale is expect­ed to gen­er­ate up to $3 million.

More­over, Fedorov men­tioned in his tweet that the rev­o­lu­tion­ary blockchain tech­nol­o­gy has been trust­ed as opposed to Rus­sia which has cho­sen tanks and weapons to destroy Rus­sia. This new ini­tia­tive will enable the Ukrain­ian mil­i­tary and cel­e­brate Ukrain­ian iden­ti­ty and freedom.

More­over, the announce­ment to launch NFT to sup­port the Ukraine army amidst the inva­sion by Rus­sia was made on March 3, after the gov­ern­ment can­celled a planned token air­drop. The Ukrain­ian gov­ern­ment also launched an offi­cial web­site to col­lect cryp­to dona­tions on March 14.
