Gap recently made its foray to the non-fungible token (NFT) space by launching its first collection of gamified NFTs. According to the global clothing brand, this is to highlight its iconic and brand products to fresh and existing customers. The brand’s gamified collectible NFT experience remarks creatives and gives customers the opportunity to own a limited edition of collectible Gap hoodies.
Gap has collaborated with Brandon Sines, the artist of Frank Ape, for the launch. Brandon Sines commented on his collaboration with Gap:
With this partnership with Gap, the creative cycle has come full circle as it allows me to express the beautiful messages of Frank Ape while collaborating with one of the most classic brands in history. I cannot wait to share the physical and digital pieces we’ve been working on with Gap and Frank fans worldwide.
Gap North America Chief Product Officer and General Manager Chris Goble said that the brand has always been prioritizing art, music, and culture, and the new venture in the digital space with artists like Brandon Sines excites the company.
The company has chosen to leverage open-source blockchain Tezos to create the said customer experience. Customers can start shopping exclusively tomorrow at https://www.gap.com/nft/. Gap’s digital collectibles will mark four levels: Common, Rare, Epic, and One-of-a-Kind. Shopping starts at an accessible rate with the first level, Common will be on sale from 9 AM onwards.
The gamified experience bestows the customers to take iconic Gap hoodie digital art at the Common and Rare levels. This helps to get the chance to purchase Brandon Sines’ limited edition of epic digital art and physical Gap x Frank Ape of Sines hoodie.
Gap Chief Digital and Technology Officer John Strain also said that the move is part of their innovation goals. He added that the company is also “excited about the possibilities that more planet-friendly blockchain technology can unlock.
