The Metaverse Multiplanetary Economic Model

As in other main religions, the Bible supports the archetypal narrative where our universe originated from nothingness by deities while humans would play a special role within their creation.

Genesis manifests God’s intentions in the process of creating the earth’s atmosphere, plants and animals, the stars, and also humans: “So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them”.

In this account, God as the main architect of our universe, depicted humans in his own image, as a key feature to stand out from the rest of his great projects.

Similar to deities, we are meant to be creators and in our builder’s role, we start our work through concepts which when proven right, allow us to learn invaluable lessons about God’s universe and about ourselves as humans.

Along with the irony of this likeness, we also work on the assembly of our own universe, or parallel universes, such as the metaverse. Furthermore, our man-made universes will then contain all forms of life, as a literal or metaphorical extension of our reality, and of ourselves.

The metaverse consists of virtual spaces populated by gaming and virtual worlds which are possible by virtue of the Internet.

However, it is an ambitious and futuristic concept because it includes virtual and physical spaces jointly forming a new reality for a collective shared experience. Where virtual worlds interact with the real world, enhanced by augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and biotech.

In essence, all these powerful technologies are shaping our world already and will shape future generations’ self while resolving technical issues.

There was a time, not so long ago in the Age of Discovery of the 16th century, when our world was vastly unexplored. Geographical exploration sponsored by competing empires was a heroic task, where sea monsters and all sorts of magical creatures haunted us upon those sacred areas of the uncharted world.

In that era, relevant heroes of their times such as Christopher Columbus, Magellan, Walter Raleigh, and many more, were prized for their bravery by granting them nobiliary titles and allowing them to take the spoils of war.

Yet, it’s relevant to mention that those individual explorations were not enough to grant mass adoption which was the main goal of their sponsors. European states needed to also permanently occupy, and populate territories to make those geographies a productive entity of the empire in order to reinforce their supremacy.

In view of the growing needs, policies were introduced to make sure that the new lands would become a sustainable and functional part of their territories.

As means to mobilize big migration flows from Europe to the rest of the world, a wide variety of benefits were granted to settlers through policy which included, social status, homestead and exemption laws, and even in some cases religious freedom. In other words, people found value in moving to new places in return for taking huge risks and working very hard.

Along the same line, space exploration began as a heroic matter for nations’ supremacy. What was known as the space era, began with a space race during the Cold War days.

The USSR hit first with Sputnik in 1957 and its hero Gagarin in 1961, while the U.S. punched back with the Apollo project and unforgettable Neil Armstrong.

Interestingly the initial support for the space race lasted only a decade losing all momentum since the early 1970s, consequently drying up the budgets for these programs until our days.

If there is any lesson learned from the aftermath of the Age of Discovery, it is that people will support their heroes but to sustain exploration and colonization programs they will need to find enough value to invest in these endeavors.

At present, an important range of arguments that go from the release of thousands of UFO documents, transhumanism, becoming a multi-planetary species, or a potential world catastrophe is being brought up to the table to fuel our collective imagination in support of space exploration.

It even seems that there is a deadline of 100 years for us to become a “multi-planetary species” as once the father of rocketry, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, dreamed about and devoted his life too.

However, fear, rivalry, nor curiosity had proven strong enough to power and sustain for decades, at a national or a global level, the kind of investments that space exploration and subsequent colonization require.

In this matter, the metaverse brings useful options to find some answers. After all, we in our creators’ role are building a very attractive virtual world that satisfies us in our daily lives much more than the cold, alien, and expensive universe exploration proposal.

It is possible to find collective sustained and consistent support for space exploration by building bridges between God’s Universe and ours, enabling the metaverse to leverage space exploration.

A Metaverse Multiplanetary Economic Program could be launched by using blockchain technology and other fourth industrial revolution’s tech, to be implemented readily to provide real experience and therefore increase our sense of belonging.

This hypothetical Metaverse Multiplanetary Economic Program could begin with a token sale to support space exploration. The token could be launched by public or private organizations willing to develop their explorations while revealing to their investors the expected profits in their business plans.

That is, a standard tech development accompanied by a typical token offering. Such a concept could be easily launched by the public or private sector, or both together, to enable an attractive investment while offering a “Metaverse Experience” to the collective.

This Economic Program could develop as a full human experience with, for instance, the buildout of a game, or a Metaverse Multiplanetary Experience (MME).

The MME could be a Metaverse Wormhole linking ourselves instantly in the present time on Planet Earth, with a hypothetical future in a spaceship or on another planet. Apart from entertainment, participants could invest in tech developments for space travel and to sustain outer space life – or simply acquire property out of Planet Earth.

Developing these ideas is not a matter of if we have or not the talent and the technology – we have it all – it is more about implementing unexplored possibilities from the business model perspective.

Therefore, the real question is “when will the sponsors of these initiatives be ready to share on a public, private, and collective level?” Splitting the risk between the nations is not a new prospect in the subject of space exploration, it was already proposed 60 years ago and some successful collaboration was accomplished later after that call.

More recently, the private sector has been welcomed to this matter previously reserved to the military arena. However, collaboration at the scale needed, private, public, and collective, will be totally unprecedented for our species. So far, the collective has been pulled into macro projects by conscription or patriotism, but never by participation.

Nevertheless, blockchain is all about inclusion through decentralization and distribution. Just like the Internet of Information, blockchain technology (The Internet of Value) can transform the lives of billions of people all over the world by creating social impact. When applying it to leverage space exploration, we will unleash limitless possibilities for human collaboration.

If that final step of our social relations develops, our man-made universe, the metaverse, will indeed allow us to learn invaluable information about the universe, but most importantly, we will also discover and flourish the very best part of ourselves.

Probably that will be possible since, after all, God depicted humans in his own image. Nonetheless, we still need to prove that statement to be right.
