Crypto Currency Fraud: CID Arrests Fraudster for Cheating Investors in Crypto Currency Trade | Ranchi News
Ranchi: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) nabbed a person for cheating a large number of investors by assuring them high returns in crypto-currency trade using artificial intelligence.
The accused — Sashi Shankar Kumar alias Vicky — is from Brahmapura police station limits under Muzaffarpur district.
CID director general Anurag Gupta on Sunday told the media persons that the complainant, a resident of Bokaro district, had alleged that Kumar initially helped him earn profit through gold bond and earned his confidence.He said that Kumar then told him to invest in crypto currency assuring a return up to 300 per cent in a year. Gupta said that Kumar also floated a fake website in which he started showing hikes in valuations of the investments. He added people from different cities, including Dhanbad and Kolkata, are victims of this fraud.
The complainant and other investors received profit up to 300 per cent on their initial return leading them to encourage their acquaintances to invest in the scheme. One day the accused closed the fake website and vanished causing huge losses to the investors. CID said Kumar and his accomplices had travelled to Dubai thrice and Russia once with the cheated money.
